What is Sportslink?

Sportslink is a UK charity which has been set-up to raise money to provide a unique experience in the world of sport for children and their families attending two hospice houses Helen and Douglas House. For further information, please refer to our About Us page.

Why is Sportslink not yet a registered charity?

As from 23rd April 2007, the Charity Commission changed their rules on registered charity status. They will only register a charity once they receive five thousand pounds annual income. As soon as we have achieved this we will be applying for registered charity status.

When does the auction start and finish?

The first auction is now closed. We plan to have our next auction from 2nd March 2009. You will only be able to bid once the auction is open.

When can I bid?

You will be able to start bidding when the auction is opened. Until that time, the bidding will remain closed but you can view all the items. You will also need to be a full registered member to bid on items.

How do I register with Sportslink?

To register, click on the register link.This can be found on the homepage or on the top right of the site header.

Why do I have to register to bid on auction items and then verify?

We require all your personal details for the contract for the sale, we then ask you to verify your registration by clicking a link within an email we send to you.

I'm not from the UK, can I still register?

Yes, you can register and bid on auction items.However, all postage amounts are only applicable to delivery within the UK.If you wish to bid on an item, please contact us to obtain a quote for postage to your country.

How do I place a bid?

To place a bid you must be registered with Sportslink and signed into the site. Once signed in you can place a bid amount in the box against an item.You will be asked to confirm your bid before it is submitted and accepted.

What is a reserve price?

How do I know if I am outbid on an auction item?

You will automatically be notified via email if you are outbid or you can view the status on My Account within Sportslink.

Can I retract a bid?

Sportslink does not allow bid retractions.That is why we ask you to confirm your bid and ensure you have read all the terms and conditions before you bid.

How do I know if I am the winner?

As soon as the auction closes you will be notified via email if you have successfully won the item.

I won my auction, what happens now?

Now you pay Sportslink the winning amount plus any postage and packaging or other additional fees listed on the auction item page. If you are unsure as to the total amount please contact us.

How do I pay?

Unfortunately, at the moment we cannot accept online payments. You will need to pay by sending a cheque or a postal order to:

Can I not wait until I see the item and then pay?

By bidding on the item you agree to buy it based solely on the description and photos on the auction item page. You are legally bound to pay Sportslink before receiving the item.

I have paid, how long will it be before I receive my item?

All items will be packaged and posted out as soon as possible after the auction has ended and we receive payment. Please bear in mind that there are a number of auction items ending at the same time so it will take time to get each item out.All items will be posted direct to the address you gave at registration by DHL to they will be trackable.If you have any queries regarding the expected delivery of your item, please contact us.

Can I resell my item?

We would kindly ask that you only bid on an item if you intend to keep it or give it as a gift. Bidding on items for pure resale purposes is not encouraged. Many of our partners will not allow the resale of items which have been donated purely to raise money for Sportslink.

I have forgotten my password, what should I do?

Select the Forgot Your Password link when you try to log in.We will then ask you to answer the secret question you supplied at registration.When you enter this correctly, we will email your password to the email address you supplied at registration.

How do I change my password?

You can change your password, email address and other information by logging on to My Account on the Sportslink website.

What is the Sportslink Shop?

This is currently in development and will be open shortly. We will be selling a number of Sportslink branded merchandise which will help our charity further. This will be beneficial to sustain funds between auctions. Please check the site regularly for updates; if you have registered we will notify you when the shop is open for business.
